Belize is a true paradise for an independent traveler: lush rainforests, unique fauna and rich underwater world.
This country is for those who need more than just beaches, for those who crave adventures and unravel the secrets of ancient civilizations. Belize offers a sea of pleasure and entertainment on the territory no more than Mari El or Ivanovo Region. Belize attracts many travelers with its untouched nature and crystal-clear waters along the coast. Due to the fact that 40% of the country’s territory is occupied by national parks, natural and marine reserves, which are under the protection of the state, Belize is also a paradise for ecotourism. The warm waters of the second largest Barrier Reef are a mecca for divers and snorkeling fans. The lush, untouched subtropical forests and fertile hills located between sugar cane, rice and fruit plantations are where the impressive ruins of the Mayan empire lie.
Those who worry about their security can relax carefree: Belize is a peaceful, democratic country whose people did not take part in revolutions, unlike neighboring countries. Belize gained its independence from Britain only in 1981. The population is very friendly and non-conflict. The calm Caribbean Sea creates a relaxed atmosphere. And the hearts of travelers will keep warm feelings for the hospitable Belize for a long time to come.

The most reasonable decision to visit Belize will be from December to April – the dry season. At this time, very pleasant weather is established throughout the country, the air temperature is + 25-30С, and there is practically no rain (the driest months are January and February). If you plan to climb the mountains in Belize, then you should consider that the temperature in the mountains is always 10-12 degrees lower than on the coast.
But when planning a trip, one should take into account the fact that the period of the high tourist season in Belize falls in the winter months, and there are plenty of people who want to escape from snowdrifts and frosts on Belizean beaches around the world. The peak falls on the period from December (Christmas) and ends in February (after the celebration of Valentine’s Day). Therefore, if you intend to travel to Belize in the winter, book flights and hotels much in advance.
For those who want to avoid crowds of tourists and prefer a relaxing holiday, it is better to come to Belize in the off-season – from March to May. And although at this time the probability of rain is much higher, but, in general, the weather is still very favorable for recreation. The hottest month is May. In addition, if you are fond of diving, then only from April until the beginning of June is it possible to observe whale sharks in Punta Placencia. For windsurfing, the best time is from February to June.
From mid-June to the end of November, it is better not to come to Belize. It rains in the mountains, and on the coast there is a high probability of hurricanes, especially from the first days of August until the end of September.
The only reason you should come to Belize in the last decade of September is a carnival in honor of Independence Day. The festive extravaganza takes place annually in Belmopan, Belize and San Pedro on September 21.
Not far from the border with Guatemala, in the west of Belize, Cayo district is located covered with beautiful subtropical and pine forests. This area is replete with a variety of birds, cascades of waterfalls and winding rivers. It is a great place for canoeing, horse riding, bird watching, hiking or swimming in the wild rivers. However, tourists come here to visit the caves of Barton Creek and Rio Frio or to explore the impressive ruins of the ancient cities of Shunantunich and Karakol. In order to feel the unique atmosphere, you should stay in one of the lodge hotels in the jungle. Each hotel offers various entertainments and excursions to the most interesting places of this region.
